For this assignment, you will demonstrate your skills to give and receive performance feedback. Before you begin this assignment, go to the Unit 6 e-book, page 29, watch the video and answer the questions. You will need these answers to complete your assignment. After you have completed this step, then you can watch the video below and continue to the assignment.
KC Edtech. (2014, January 22). Dr. Karen YarrishPoor Performance Evaluation [Video]. YouTube.
We all know that this was not the right way to conduct a performance review. Neither the manager nor employee was professional in this video. The employer did not provide much if any, feedback. The employee did not react to the little feedback provided in a professional way.
This is a two-part assignment, you will complete one video response.
Part I (this is for your notes)
First analyze the video. What did this manager do wrong when conducting the performance review? Provide specific details for how the meeting should have been conducted, how the manager should have acted in the meeting. How did the employee act in this situation? Provide specific examples or details on how the employee should have acted.
Part 2(this is the video that you need to turn in)
Now that you have identified what went wrong in this performance review, its time for you to demonstrate the proper way to give and receive performance feedback. Using what you have learned in this unit, put yourself in the manager's shoes, and conduct an improved performance review. You can play both roles of manager and employee, can team up with someone from class, or have a friend or family member volunteer to be the employee in your video.
