Performance management is an ongoing process including five interrelated components. The links between the various components need to be established clearly. One example would be that performance planning needs to be closely related to performance execution. Performance planning is a futile exercise if execution does not follow from planning. The same applies to all the various components of performance management. The phases of a performance management process: Prerequisites, performance planning, performance execution, performance assessment, and performance review.
