Business Sustainability and Ethics: Research Project We are exposed to many different social and environmental issues that it can be difficult to understand them all in detail and grasp their impacts. However, it is important to be aware of the current issues so that we can make better decisions by taking different factors into account. In this assignment you and your group will select a social or environmental issue and choose a business that is addressing this issue using innovative strategies. There are two main components to this project: the issue and the company. The Issue: Once you have selected a social or environmental issue, you will need to do some research to make sure you understand it and the impacts it has on business. It will be easier if you choose an issue that is more specific - e.g. if you want to focus on waste in the oceans, get more specific and focus on the contribution of single use plastics to ocean waste. This will give you more direction when conducting your research and finding a business that is addressing this issue. The Business: Find a business that is addressing this issue in a creative way. Are they developing products to counteract harmful effects? Omitting harmful materials? Treating stakeholders differently? Describe the business, what they are doing to address the issue and assess whether you think it is having a meaningful impact.
