You've also been hired to develop the Indian tracking station as described above. Perform an informal trade study that will help you select a satellite receiver to be used at this remote tracking station. Note: the trade study concerns the receiver and does not include the antenna nor the uplink transmitter. Requirements include supporting the specified 100Mbps data rate. Other important considerations include minimizing receiver size and power requirements (some receivers are highly integrated - many functions in one receiver module - while others distribute functions across multiple modules). Also, the downlink waveform from the GEO spacecraft to the GEP has not yet been defined, making waveform flexibility and adaptability important. And the ability to support higher data rates for other missions in the future is also an important consideration when selecting this receiver, making support for up to 200 Mbps a desirable feature. Follow the method and approach described in Lecture 4C that is found in Module 4 on Blackboard. Be sure to explain your selection as part of Step 6.
