( Please do not copy and paste) In media sources (such as news websites, technology websites, radio, television, print sources, government publications, etc.). When you hear about an innovation developed or advertised, focus on that news story. Explore more about it if possible. Find out who invented it, who manufactures it, who does it, etc. Try to use current news events, not those from the past. News stories from the past two or three weeks specifically.

Again, this innovation should be NEW. "NEW" is defined as being innovated in the past 12 months. If you choose to assignment on a long-existing innovation (more than a year old), it will be rejected, and you will earn a zero for this assignment. DO NOT CHOOSE a simple improvement on an existing innovation either!

In no less than a four-page.

1. What is the innovation specifically? Provide a brief description and small picture that clearly describes the innovation.

2. Where was the innovation advertised or published? Where did you hear about it? Provide a source (citation) for this story. If it was a website, provide the URL and/or company URL.

3. When was this innovation developed? Be specific with a date.

4. What industry does this innovation represent? What industry (es) will this innovation impact and why? Who would use this innovation? Describe.

5.How is this innovation different from what is currently available or what is already being done? Is this a "disruptive technology/innovation" or an "incremental technology/innovation" and why? Describe.

6. Think carefully about this innovation and provide an analysis of why this innovation might succeed or fail. What would cause it to fail/succeed? Provide a complete and rational thinking process of the reasons why you arrived at your conclusion. Explain that process and how you reached your conclusion in your report. Use citations and/or statistics to strengthen your analysis. Describe your rationale in detail and provide any supporting evidence to support your rationale.

7.If you were on the strategic planning team of the company/family/organization that developed this innovation, what would the next "generation" after this innovation be? In other words, think years in advance and determine if this innovation is something that is a fad, or a long-term solution, and, what would be the next jump in innovation for this product/service/innovation? Describe.

Each question should have its own heading and/or be numbered so that it is clear that all the questions have been answered (no need to rewrite the entire question...just a heading). For example:

  • Introduction
  • Section 1: The New Innovation
  • Section 2: Where It Was Seen
  • Section 3: Development Date
  • Section 4: The Industry
  • Section 5: Differences From Existing
  • Section 6: Success or Failure
  • Section 7: Next Generation of This Innovation
  • Conclusion
