Start with the "How to Write a Contract" document. This should help you get started to build the outline of your contract. Then, if you choose, use the extensive checklists to write a simple contract. The checklists cover so much more than you need to include, but should give you good ideas to make your contract specific. You want to avoid vague terms that could be open to interpretation. You DO NOT have to write an employment contract, there is information for your reference, however, if you decide to go this route. You should make sure that you have all the elements of a valid contract and they are obvious in the language of your contract. Be creative and have fun. At the end of the assignment, include signatures and dates. It is very important that your contract reflects original thoughts. It is designed to help you think through the process, elements and details of a valid contract. Original work is much more valuable than using the internet and then editing an already existing contract. I am much more interested in your simple original contract than a complex template from other sources. Imagine you were asked to write a contract in the classroom using only the materials provided in this course. Your work may be simple, yet detailed enough to reflect the important elements of a valid contract. Again, please use the book and notes for assistance, not the internet for templates and copies.
