Prepare a flow chart for starting a car. Include a check of the battery, radiator and oil level, topping them up if necessary. Examine the tyre tread, and look to see if the tyres are correctly inflated. If a tyre has insufficient tread swap it for the spare. If more than one tyre has insufficient tread go to the garage and buy more tyres. If the tyres are under-inflated a foot pump is available to pump them up. Check the operation of traffic lights, turn signal indicators and brake and backing lights. Check the operation of the headlights. If everything is operational, see that the car is clear of obstructions, start the engine, fasten the seat belt, and back out of the drive. Before moving too far, check the action of the brakes.
