Summarising the content: Key Concepts Learnt: 1. A sequence is a list of numbers with each number in the list known as an element of the sequence with an index n. 2. Closed forms and Recurrence Forms of a sequence and how they are defined 3. Partial sums are the sums of first k elements of a sequence 4. Arithmetic/Linear and Geometric sequences and their definitions. 5. Orders of differences of a sequence, specifically 1st and 2nd order. 6. Derivation of the formula for finding the Partial sum of an Arithmetic Sequence and its application. 7. Derivation of the closed form of a geometric sequence. 8. Derivation of the formula for finding the Partial sum of a Geometric Sequence and its application. 9. How to find the closed form of an order-1 linear recurrence sequence. 10. How to find the closed form of an order-2 linear recurrence sequence. Sequences might not appear relevant in direct application in the first glace, but they are an important tool for analysis as they help make sense of behaviours in academic fields, like cellular division in biology or modelling epidemic spread or population change in fields like data science, which is my intended major. In future subjects that cover Artificial Intelligence in my major, sequences can be relevant as regression makes use of sequences in their function an form to make predictions.Reflecting on the content: * 'What is the most important thing you learnt in this module? The most important thing I learnt in this module was about deriving the closed form of a z order linear recurrence sequence. The closed form is a handy tool in allowing me find a function that is easy to represent mathematically which is useful in certain fields. * How does this relate to what you already know? | have learnt Sequences and Series in high school but they only covered aspects like finding the nth t2rm and the partial sum. | never really knew about closed and recurrence forms and about other fundamental aspects which this module helped me learn and complete my understanding of the concept. * Why do you think your course team wants you to learn the content of this module for your degree? | think the course team wanis the student to become effective at utilizing sequences as a tool so that when they encounter a sequeance in theirwork or study, they can comprehend them and manipulate them to fulfill their intended ohjectives
