Mechanism Description Assignment Intro: The second type of technical description we've discussed in this module is the mechanism description in which you describe a mechanism (2 or more parts) to explain how it works. Goal: For this assignment, you will write a 400-600 word (about 2 pages) description of a small, simple mechanism-one with 3-5 main parts. Think about mechanisms you work with currently or one that you will work with in your chosen field, in the science laboratory, on the job, in school, or around the house (from your workbench, kitchen, or garage). You should select a mechanism with which you are familiar. Make sure to choose a specific object (not a coffee maker but a super-duper Cooper coffee maker model 213x) that has a maximum of 5 components. Details: Describe the mechanism as a whole and its component parts using the organizing scheme below. Be sure to take advantage of headings and subheadings to aid your audience in reading selectively. An example of this assignment is provided in the module.
