Q4. A project team is tasked with the design and testing of low cost water disinfection system for use in developing regions. Based upon a review of the existing technologies, the team has decided to develop a solar disinfection system Following an initial planning meeting and communication with stakeholders, the team has identified the key tasks to be completed with estimated durations. The first task will be to prepare a detailed design specification for the device, and 3 months has been allocated to this. There are 3 key components for the device which can be developed and produced in parallel, and then integrated into the final device. The first is the design and fabrication of a UV sensor which can give feedback control for batch treatment. Design of the device will take 2 months, acquisition of components 3 months, and fabrication will take 2 months. The second component is the photoreactor. Design will take 1 month, acquisition of components 2 months, and fabrication will take 1 month. The third component is the compound parabolic collector mirror. Design will take 1 month, acquisition of the materials will take 3 months, and fabrication will take 1 month. All components will be integrated together to build the prototype, and this will take 1 month. Commissioning and testing will take an estimated 3 months.
