A correlational study on physical activity and GPA among college students
Physical activity has been shown to have good benefits on a number of outcomes, including academic performance, in studies. Other research, typically using samples of post-graduates or high school students, indicates contradictory or null results. The original study looked at the relationship between grade point average (GPA) and physical activity in a sample of Florida State University undergraduate students. The two variables correlated are physical activity and GPA. When age, sex, race/ethnicity, years in college, and time spent in vigorous or moderate physical activity were taken into account, the studies revealed anon-significantlink between the two. Additionally, cognitive function and other healthy habits had no relationship with GPA. To verify these findings and investigate connections between study characteristics longitudinally throughout the course of the four years of college, more research is required. There was neither a negative nor positive correlation but lots of individuals have stated that there is a positive outcome when you are taking care of yourself during school, so I would say neither or positive. Another variable that may be linked to the other two is the course of a four-year college lifestyle, more studies need to be taken on over time. I think this is an interesting study that just needs more time and research put into it. There is not enough research done on the study and its effects in the long term. I am surprised by the non-significant outcome as I thought there would be a positive correlation. I think there needs to be more research with a larger test group for it to be a reliable study.
