Hypothesis testing is an act in statistics whereby an analyst will decide these claims as to whether or not there is sufficient evidence based upon analyses of the data. There are null Hypothesis (Ho) and alternative Hypothesis (Ha). A null hypothesis is a statement in which there is no relation between the two variables. On the other hand, An alternative hypothesis is a statement in which there is some statistical relationship between the two variables.
Social media has changed the way human live their life. According to Mayo Clinic, A 2019 study of more than 6,500 12- to 15-year-olds in the U.S. found that those who spent more than three hours a day using social media might be at heightened risk for mental health problems. However, the question remains unclear whether social media negatively or positively impacts our mental health. In my scenario, I am examining whether prolonged social media use correlates with self-esteem levels in young adults. Null Hypothesis: When young adults use social media for less than 2 hrs, they will not report low self-esteem. Alternative Hypothesis: When young adult uses social media for more than 2 hrs daily, they will report low self-esteem. Moreover, an experimental group will receive limited time on social media use, whereas the control group will not be able to use social media. Time will be my variable.
