Ariel is a 16 year old mermaid. She met a prince and she wishes to become human so that she can marry him and live happily ever after. Ariel has heard about an evil sea witch who can make her human.

Ariel goes to see the sea witch, Ursula, who agrees to contract with Ariel. She will give Ariel 3 days to get the prince to kiss her, indicating his love for her. If she succeeds, she can stay human. If she fails, she becomes Ursula's slave. The consideration for the contract is Ariel's beautiful singing voice. Ariel agrees and signs the contract.

Now a human and mute without her voice, Ariel woos the prince and several times he attempts to kiss her. Each time his attempt is interrupted by Ursula's minions. Ursula does everything she can to prevent Ariel from fulfilling her end of the bargain. Ursula succeeds, the prince is unable to kissAriel,and at the end of the third day Ursula makes Ariel into her slave.
