Please help me write this paper about this video
Step 1: Watch Supersize Me 2: Holy Chicken!
Step 2: Next, write a 1 page paper (single-spaced, one-inch margins) that addresses the following issues:
Step 3: In this class we discussed the concept of commodity fetishism which Marx originally defined in this way: Commodity fetishism is the process of ascribing magic qualities to an object, whereby the human labor required to make that object is forgotten once the object is associated with a monetary, exchange value for exchange. As a fetishized good, its value is viewed as an intrinsic property, rather than one that is created through human labor.
Marxs view was the commodity fetishism served the interest of capitalism (which profited by increasing the gap between wages paid to labor and the price paid by consumers), with the additional consideration that competition placed limits on how a price could be set.
In the contemporary application, this concept is now commonly applied to branded goods (and hence could easily be called brand fetishism). It functions to make consumers relatively insensitive to the conditions experienced by the workers who make the desired object (e.g., a hot fashion brand that outsources its production to a sweat labor factory in Indonesia) or supply its raw materials. Commodity fetishism also encourages a disregard for the negative environmental consequences of production.
Find one example from the documentary that you believe illustrate commodity fetishism in respect to the fast-food industry. For the specific example you find, explain 1) the specific aspects that constitute commodity fetishism; 2) how marketing/branding contributes to this manifestation of commodity fetishism; 3) how could marketing/branding be used to overcome this case of commodity fetishism in a way that could be commercially viable. --30 point in total
Step 4: The film provides a fairly detailed description of how fast-food restaurants associate their brands and culinary offerings with a health halo. Spurlocks Holy Chicken has also adopted similar marketing practices to attract consumers to his sandwich store.
Find two marketing practices/tricks/tactics from the documentary that you believe illustrate how fast-food restaurants attempt to attract consumers. For each example, use any concepts or theories we have learned in this class to explain why such marketing practices/tricks/tactics would be effective. Please try to explain it as detailed as possible. --40 points in total
Note. You could rely on concepts/theories from 1) Attention, Sensation, and Perception; 2) Attitudes and Persuasion; 3) The Process of Making Decisions. Inaccurate usage of the concepts/theories will not receive full point, therefore, please make sure that you understand the concepts/theories first.
Step 5: Last but not least, do you think that Holy Chicken could actually become a viable commercial enterprise (i.e., make a sufficient profit to stay in business). Why or why not? In either case, explain one modification you would make in the brand concept that you think would improve its market potential. --20 points in total
