Problem $1.$ For the statically indeterminate member below, determine the reaction at $D$ by deformation

compatibility and then from overall Statics find the reaction at $A.$ Draw the axial force and displacement

diagrams for the member.

Problem $2.$ Determine the displacement at the right end of the axially loaded member below, which has a

changing cross$-$section. The cross$-$sectional area A varies linearly with horizontal position along the length $L,$

with four times larger area at the right than at the left, as indicated in the figure given.
