The idea would always get shut down by the NCAA. Until, September 2019, when Governor Gavin Newsome (California) signed Senate Bill 206: Fair Pay to Play Act which would allow all student-athletes the opportunity to receive compensation for their Name, Image or Likeness (NIL) beginning January 1^st, 2023 in the state of California. If the student-athlete doesn't live in a state with an NIL law, the individual school must come up with a policy for student-athletes to follow. In your own words and a minimum of 150 words, do you believe that this new state law will eventually affect the NCAA's 501(c) 3 status? Why or why not? Thoroughly explain using critical thinking.
