Position Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in agricultural science or a closely related field (e.g. Honours, Masters, or PhD), or equivalent standing.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to contributing to team culture.
- Willingness to contribute to administrative responsibilities across the School.
- Experience in curriculum development and flexible teaching delivery (desirable).
- Experience or knowledge in multiple of the following areas: crop pathology, pest and disease management, crop adaptation, entomology, livestock production (including nutrition or breeding), specialised food industries or food processing, sustainability or environmental management in agriculture, and precision or digital agriculture technologies (desirable).
You will: Make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution and carry out activities to maintain and develop your scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession or discipline.
You are responsible for:
As a member of the program academic team, leading and participating in the delivery of foundation and profession-focused units across multiple campuses. Conducting tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or studio sessions. Initiation and development of unit material. Acting as unit coordinator. The preparation and delivery of lecturers and seminars. Involvement in professional activity. Development of unit material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff. Marking and assessment. Consultation with students. A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the units in which you teach. Attendance at school meetings and/or membership of a number of committees.
Essential
Hold a postgraduate qualification in an area relevant to agricultural science. This will require a postgraduate qualification (e.g. Honours, Masters or PhD) or equivalent accreditation and standing.
Desirable
Experience in curriculum development.
Knowledge in any of the following areas: crop pathology, diseases, and pests, crop adaptation, agriculture engineering (emphasis in computing, infrastructure design, mechanics, or robotics), entomology, animal and livestock production, social innovation in agriculture.
Essential
Demonstrated ability to engage in research in areas of research strength. Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate University students. Demonstrated ability to make a positive contribution to a team culture, through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
Ability to teach using flexible delivery systems. Ability and preparedness to participate in school and wide administrative duties. Experience of communication with the popular media. Ability and preparedness to engage with industry and community organisations in the provision of research and relevant educational programs.
