Directions: In this assignment you will practice defining a term using the genus/species method and then evaluate and defend your definition. Each section is worth 10 points. If you are missing any required elements in a section you will receive partial credit. Add space as needed.
Examples of using the 3 step genus species method to define a term and to defend your definition using a paragraph for each of the 4 criteria.
Section I (10 points)
Choose one term from the following list: fruit, sport, drug, weapon
Then define your chosen term using the 3 Step Genus/Species Method. Here are the steps:
1. Determine the general group of things to which the term being defined is a part, i.e. the genus.
2. Draw up three lists of 3 things within the genus (Things that are clearly part of the term, things that are clearly NOT part of the term, and things that are controversial).
3. Specify the differences that make the term unique, i.e. the characteristics that distinguish those things that are clearly part of the term from those things that are clearly NOT part of the term.

Section II (10 points)
