Measuring Time

In physics,we usually deal with time as seconds.

Questions:

Use a stopwatch (either an actual one, or an app on your phone or computer) to time a few things:

1) How long does it take you to walk across the room?

2) To say your name and spell your e-mail address?

3) How long does it take you to blink?

4) Can you think of a better way to time a blink than trying to time just one blink? What

results do you get?

5) Take a small soft and squishy object (a foam squishy, or a balled-up pair of socks). You're going to time how long you can keep it in the air for one toss. Time from when you release it from your hand until it meets something solid (or liquid, although please avoid liquids). What's the longest hang-time you can get?

6) Compile a table of at least six tosses. Calculate the average time of flight for your soft

object, as well as the standard deviation. State the average time and your (2) uncertainty.
