1) The probability that a randomly selected box of a certain brand of light bulbs has a defective bulb is 0.05. Suppose you purchase box after box until you have find the first defective bulb.

a) What is the probability that you purchase a dozen (i.e., 12) boxes?

b) How many boxes do you expect to purchase?

2) Syntax errors occur in a student's programming project according to a Poisson process at a rate of 3 errors per every 50 lines of code. Assume the syntax errors occur independently of one another. What is the probability that there will be 7 syntax errors in 200 lines of code?
