Introduction

statistics has been around for millennia, its importance has grown in recent years as modern statisticians have enhanced applications of statistics through new problem-solving methodologies. Lessening the challenges encountered in the realm of data collection and publication is achieved through good preparation. With the proper measures in place, inconsistent data collection and late publication of national statistical data will be eliminated. (Data Principles - Office for National Statistics. n.d.-b). The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) is responsible for providing high-quality statistics on the economic, social, and environmental situations of the Jamaican people. Accurate and timely data transmission is critical to implementing and emphasising strict adherence to STATIN's mandate and the United Nations fundamental principles of official statistics. STATIN is dedicated to providing timely, trustworthy, and accurate data for informed decision-making in order to maximise the welfare of all Jamaicans.(STATIN, n.d.).

This research is an analysis of the work of the Statistical Institute of Jamaica as it impacts national statistical data on its citizens. Which adds to the body of published expertise in this subject and gives institutes of a similar nature more insight. This study will examine the challenges that are encountered by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica during data collection, analysis, and publication and the impact on the accuracy of the data, as well as the policies in place to protect the personal data collected for the Jamaican people and the procedures in place to obtain accuracy and quality data collected
