The company which Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report I chose is one that my wife loves to visit and that is Target. Target has readily accessible CSR reports going back to 2007, but the report I read through is from 2021. I really liked how they started the report off with how the company impacts different concentration areas like environmental, social and governance structure, leading with the people sections. They state right off the bat how people are at the center of what makes Target what we are, followed by Planet (environmental) and Business (governance). Those items really stuck out to me. From the report I get the overwhelming impression that Targets business model is very people centric. I gives the impression that employees and customers are viewed very highly and on parallel pedestals. From the document there does not appear to be any third party data being displayed, but the data that is displayed is easily understood and transitions well. After another Google search regarding the company it has remained a top competitor among retail stores according to reputable sources like Fortune and Forbes, but due to the pandemic and the rise of online shopping, in-store shopping has suffered. The company is making strides to address this shortcoming. Overall, the CSR was clear and to the point. The breakdown of people, environment, and governance really gives an emphasis on what the company values in that order. It is like people and the planet are more important than the overall business model.
