Roleplay – This task will require you to conduct a Roleplay. You need to find a volunteer to play the role of the CEO and record your discussion with the CEO. The recording can be made with the use of a Camera or a Smartphone. The context of the discussion is provided below. Once completed, prepare minutes of the meeting recording the key points of the discussion and any actions.

Your recording can be video or audio and should not be more than 10 minutes in duration.

Context - You have learned from the financial records and from having conversations with other managers that;

Purchases of inventory are done infrequently and for large amounts (although there is no discount received for bulk purchases).
In addition to this there appears to be no active collection of accounts receivable.
This results in the business experiencing frequent cash shortages and the inability to pay their bills.
The monthly Instalment Activity Statement with PAYG Withholding is due on in two days and there is not enough money to pay it.
You expect there will not be enough money to pay the Quarterly GST and Monthly PAYG Withholding with the BAS in four weeks’ time.

Task – Discuss the situation with the CEO and brief the CEO on

The current issues and context
how to address the cash flow situation, and
payment options as well as document lodgement schedule requirements.

The CEO and you would need to ask each other a few questions based on the information you have provided. Example –

CEO question - How did we get into this situation?
CEO question - How long will this take to implement?
CEO question – What happens if we can’t pay the BAS on time?
Your question – Is there a reason why we purchase in bulk when we are not receiving a discount?
Your question – Is there any further information that you would need?
