1. What is the research hypothesis or research question? (5 pts)

There will be a relationship between caffeine consumption and the level of stress experienced by medical students.

2. What are the main study variable(s)? How would you describe the variables (independent vs dependent; what level of measurement are they; are they continuous or discrete; etc)? (5 pts)

The independent variable is caffeine consumption. Caffeine consumption was calculated as an interval/ratio level of data in this study.

The dependent variable is the stress level. The stress level was categorized as mild, moderate, high, and severe with respective scores of 0.00-1.00, 1.01-2.00, 2.01-3.00, and 3.01-4.00. The level of measurement used to collect stress level in this study is interval/ratio.

Other study variables include age (0-100) a continuous and ratio level of data, gender (male or female) a nominal level of data, and academic (year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) an ordinal level of data.

3. What statistical test was used? (5 pts)

Pearsons' correlation coefficient testwas utilized to assess the relationship between caffeine intake and stress level; see Table 9.

4. What conclusions were made based on the results of the statistical test? (5 pts)

The study subdivided stress into types of stress including academic related stressors (ARS), interpersonal and intrapersonal related stressors (IRS), teaching and learning domain related stressors (TLRD), social related stressors (SRS), drive and desire related stressors (DRS), and group activity related stressors (GARS).

The study results support that there is asignificantlypositive relationship between daily caffeine intake and stress levels including IRS (0.138), DRS (0.272) and TLRD (0.161)

Look into??

SRS (0.106)

GARS (0.041)

The study results support that there is asignificantlynegative relationship between daily caffeine intake and stress level ARS (-0.15).

remember:

--1.00 = perfect negative correlation; inversely related variables

+1.00 = perfect positive correlation; directly related variables

Helpful guide of abbreviations used in Table 9:

ARS: academic related stressors

IRS: Interpersonal and Intrapersonal related stressors

TLRD: teaching and learning domain related stressors

SRS: social related stressors

DRS: drive and desire related stressors

GARS: group activity related stressors

5. Provide the citation for the article in APA format. (3 pts)
