The set-up

On January 1st, 2014 Mr. John McCarthy, the new president of the Board (see the DOVERCOURT Recreational Centre case) had a large sign posted by the reception desk asking for suggestions, particularly whether members wanted more emphasis on children's programs, swimming, sports, or fitness activities. After one month, McCarthy opened the suggestion box and tallied the responses. Out of 42 responses, 24 wanted more fitness activities, 15 more children's programs, and the rest was equally split between swimming and sports.

Mr. McCarthy concluded more general fitness activities and programs had to be emphasized. He was considering asking John Rapp, the facility's executive director to modify the mix of Dovercourt's offerings to satisfy its clientele.

The question

1. Suggest an alternative small study which addresses the same question in the same way (asking feedback on recreational offerings), but is experimentally sounder because it controls for various problems. (maximum 300 words answer).
