**PLEASE READ: The experiment can only be done with the simplest of tools; no tools that require electricity can be used. Pressure gauges can not be used. The experiment is theoretical, so there is no need for actual results since the tools used are simple.

This project is intended to test your skills in designing an experiment to measure a rock property.

Capillary pressure is an important rock/fluid parameter that influences fluid flow and fluid distribution in a reservoir. Suppose you want to construct the air/liquid capillary pressure curve in gypsum. Gypsum is a natural rock composed of mostly calcium sulphate. A typical sample of gypsum is blackboard chalk.

Design a setup and a procedure by which you can measure the air/ink imbibition capillary pressure curve (Pc vs. Sink) of blackboard chalk at room temperature.

**You will be provided with the following:

A piece of white blackboard chalk, 20 cm long and 1 cm in diameter.

About 300 ml of liquid black ink in a beaker. At room temperature, ink density is 0.75 g/ml.

**You can only use simple tools; no sophisticated machines are allowed, and nothing that runs on electricity.
