Week 3 Discussion

It is important to let the paper cool before proofreading it. This is due to the fact that when individuals are constantly reviewing their work, they are more likely to miss some of their mistakes. This includes issues with spelling, non-logical sentences, and other issues that are often overlooked.

Familiarity with content prevents individuals from knowing what their paper contains. For instance, while they know their perspective on the issue and what they would like to convey, this does not always translate to the paper. Sometimes key issues are missed that make the paper lack structural or logical support.

Having others read your paper is important as others may see issues that you would have otherwise overlooked. They can point out nonsensical issues within the paper due to their non-familiarity on the topic. Additionally, spelling and grammar issues should be more prevalent to those individuals than if you reread the paper personally.

When making corrections, individuals can be consistent by reviewing how the issues that were addressed have affected different parts of the paper. For instance, if key logical facts such as names were changed, it is important to address those changes throughout the remainder of the paper.

The feedback that is retrieved from the first draft from peers and instructors is important. It tells an individual about the different sectors that they should work to develop on their paper. This improves the papers logic, strength, and makes the paper error-free. It is also important as those revisions may fetch a better grade when it comes to the final draft.
