I think it is purely a performance issue - column CHECK constraints only have to deal with rows that are "hot" for a particular query. FOREIGN KEY constraints usually require indexes on the referenced table to enable them to be efficiently implemented. ASSERTION is just too open ended. Commercial databases are too advertised and modified by authorized people. The main advantage is the luxury of predictability - knowing that your data and the database are consistent with whatever rules you have implemented.

First, it is important to recognize what DBMS is. A database management system is essentially nothing more than a computerized data keeping system. Users of the system are given facilities to perform several kinds of operations on such a system for either manipulation of the data in the database or the management of the database structure itself. MS Access is a Relational Database Management System so therefore RDBMS, however, you can use it in a non-relational fashion if you so wish so it can be used as a DBMS.I think it can be assertive given that a relational database, you dvide your information into seperate, subject-based tables. You then use table relationships to bring the information together as needed.

I would use Excel pivot tables when I have a bunch of data to insert into excel. Pivot tables will summarize the large amount of data that has been inserted and turn into ways that are much more friendly ways. An example is when you are inserting records for a team sport that has numerous amount of players that all have their own numbers. The pivot table will analyze the data recoreded and turn into a way that makes much more sense for others to keep track of/follow.
