Begin with the raw data provided consisting of undergraduate student complaints at a Canadian school of business. Each student was asked to write down hisher number one complaint.
Group your raw data into categories of responses. As a rough guide, you might try to place them in about four to six categories. You must use your own judgement in deciding categories. You may have to label some responses as other and discard some as outliers
Using the categories you have just chosen, put the responses in the form of a check sheet. The check sheet should show the frequency of each category for the data collected. It should also be ready for further data collecon should you desire.
Develop a Pareto diagram, based on the above.
Using your Pareto diagram, choose a problem for further analysis. This will likely be the most frequent one, but it does not have to be You might choose another less frequent problem for other reasons eg solving it may have wider implicaons
Using your chosen problem as the core problem, develop a causeandeffect diagram ie Ishikawa diagram, fishbone diagram Note: the problem you choose to address from your Pareto diagram should become the head of the fish on the fishbone diagram.
Decide which cause or causes on your causeandeffect diagram hold the most promise for improvement and why.
Submit your responses to the above quesons, including categorized data, check sheet, Pareto diagram, causeandeffect diagram, and suggesons for aacking the core problem.
