1) The Social Issue, Background Information and the Campaign Purpose The social issue that is selected is about the amount of ocean pollution and waste found such as plastic bottles, bags. cigarette buds, food wrappers and containers. From the data of 2019, the number one tom found in the coastal clear-up were gresite buds with an amount over 2.1 milion followed by food wrappers, plastic bottles and plastic bags which had similar numbers of around 1 million found. Most of the cigarette buds that were found are from drains and gutters that people litter into or has been pushed into and makes its way into the ocean The problem with each of the identified waste that has been found in the ocean is that the cigarette buds can be mistakenly ingested by animals and birds which can lead to harmful damage as those contain toxins. For food wrappers and containers, most of them are not biodegradable meaning they sink to the bottom of the ocean and remain there lases animal mistakenly ingested and chokes on it.
