5) Develop a "spaghetti diagram" for this scenario. There are two parts (5A and 5B) to this section. [Reference Module 13]
5A) For each major travel start and stop path in the process, label the path with a number, provide a description, and estimate the distance traveled. The first two paths are already listed in the table and drawn in the spaghetti diagram. You need to finish listing the rest of the paths (table Part 5A) and drawing the pats (spaghetti diagram Part 5B). There are at least 15 different paths and over 550 feet traveled. Use the "spaghetti diagram" in conjunction with this effort to estimate the distance traveled. Sum the total distance traveled.
| Path # | Description | Approximate distance in feet (Round trip when applicable) |
| 1 | Home to gate | 28 |
| 2 | Gate to canopy | 36 |
| 3 | ||
| 4 | ||
| 5 | ||
| Total distance traveled |
5B) Draw the actual physical flow (spaghetti diagram) using the template below. Show the direction of travel arrow for each line. Also, label each line using the numbering system you developed in your table. The first two lines of travel are already shown.
6) Document the "as is" condition as required by the template and instructions. This map needs to be to be detailed enough so that the process could be replicated using just this map. The process steps should also be broken down into enough detail so that you can identify opportunities for improvement and so that dissimilar steps can be identified. For example, combining "grab keys and wallet, walk to car, drive to store, park" into one step does not provide sufficient insights into the how much time is spent on each activity nor into problems that might occur in each step. Be sure to include at least seven "environmental issues and/or other questions and concerns". Also be sure to sum the columns (see bottom row in the table.) Compare the total time from this analysis to the total time of your videoed process. [Reference Module 13]
