A three story, one bay frame with nine DOF's is given in figure shown below. All frame members have a length of L, moment of inertia of I and the modulus of elasticity is E. A uniform distributed vertical gravity load with intensity q is acting on the beams. Determine the design moments and shear forces in column AC and beam CD under gravity and earthquake loads. Design earthquake is defined with the reduced design spectrum given in figure shown. Axial deformations in all frame members are neglected.
Let EI=1000kN*m2,L=3m and m=10 tons.
Hint: The analysis procedure and the solution are given in Chapter 5 and an example is given as "Example 5.9" in the textbook.
Homework 6(100 points)
Develop a software using a convenient computer program, e.g. Matlab, Mathcad, MS Excel, Python, etc., capable of analyzing the structures as given in HW5. All the parameters should be defined as variables; such as number of stories, member lengths, material and section characteristics, load values, and etc. The design spectrum software that you developed in HW4 can be implemented.
Notes: The solution of HW5 can be submitted as either by handwriting or by the outputs of the software that you develop in HW6.
