Part One: Functional areas within the organization are crucial in helping to implement strategy. Each of you will be helping to implement (or working against implementation of) strategy as soon as you step into an organization. Therefore, it is important to understand both your own role, as well as your integrated role in helping to get strategy in place. For this assignment, then, take a few minutes to think about your functional area (i.e. management, marketing, accounting, finance, economics, general management, entrepreneurship, operations, information systems, etc.) and then describe the role you believe this plays in helping to support strategy within the organization. (Use an actual organization that you have worked for, if you have work experience in explaining the role that your functional area plays/played in developing strategy). Once you have done this, also discuss how you would impact and work with the other functional areas in helping to support strategy. (If you are responding to a functional area already discussed, just make sure to expand on what has already been noted.)
