Pls answer all: questions 1 - 10
SECTION A Questions 1 to 7 are based on the following passage. 1 The human body has about 5 million hair follicles, though men have a few hundred thousand more than women. These hair follicles are found everywhere on the body except the palms of our hands and the soles of our feet. The hair produced by these follicles may be coarse or they may be so fine that they are barely visible. 2 Hair is composed of a tough protein called keratin. Hair growth begins in the follicle, where living cells grow and divide, pushing old cells out through the surface of the skin. The hair you see is actually dead cells. Hair grows at a rate of about 15 centimetres per year, or about 1.25 centimetres per month. 3 Each hair follicle goes through a cycle of hair production. Hair rarely grows more than a metre in length because the hair is usually shed at the end of the cycle. Once the cycle is complete, a new strand of hair begins to grow. The average human head has about 100,000 to 150,000 stands of hair and we lose up to 100 of them per day. The life cycle of human hair can be divided into three phases. First is the anagen phase, the period of active hair growth, which lasts between two and six years. The next phase is the catagen phase. This is a transitional period when hair growth stops and part of the follicle is broken down. The last phase is the telogen phase, where the old hair detaches and new hair begins to grow. This phase lasts about two to four months. All phases run concurrently, so at any given moment some follicles will be in the categen phase, others will be in the telogen phasem while most follicles will be in the anagen phase. 1 Women typically have more hair follicles than men do. A True B False Not stated 2 The strands of hair we see are made up of inactive cells. True B False Not stated 3 Living hair cells may be found in the follicle. A True B False Not stated Old hair strands fall out during the catagen phase. A True B False Not stated 5 Hair length is determined by the amount of keratin produced in the follicle. True B False Not stated 6 Cells are continuously growing and dividing throughout the hair's life cycle. True B False C Not stated 7 All the follicles on the human body go through the anagen phase simultaneously. A True B False Not stated 8 The human body has about 4-5 million hair follicles.
