A distributor orders for a large shipment of 450 cartons of a particular PCB frequently needed in mobile telephones. A carton contains 30 PCBs and thus the distributor usually decides an acceptance sampling criteria to accept or reject a carton If the carton has more than 6 defective PCBs then the entire carton is rejected. A manufacturer with an overall quality rating of making 5 % or less defective parts is considered good whereas an overall quality rating of more than 25 % defectives is considered a bad buy for the distributors.
