Portfolio Assignment 4 Improving Retention through Job Satisfaction Assignment Instructions You are pretty sure that the CHRO was pleased with your performance management project because she has given you another important task. She wants you to build on the performance management system by improving job satisfaction in the company in order to reduce voluntary turnover. There are several things she wants to see happen. First, she wants to understand better what drives job satisfaction. Second, she is interested in seeing how you will measure it and also wants you to assess turnover intentions. Third, she wants you to let her know your plan for evaluating the effectiveness of this project. Part 1: Drivers of Job Satisfaction In one single-spaced page or less, the CHRO wants you to 1) define job satisfaction and the various facets of employment that comprise that and 2) explain to her what drives job satisfaction so that she can figure out how to make adjustments that will improve it. Part 2: Measurement Next, she wants you to clarify how you will measure all of that. In particular, she asked you to 1) describe how you will measure the factors that drive job satisfaction in 1 to 3 sentences for each of the four most important factors, and 2) create or find a good measure of job satisfaction that seems to have content-validity. In other words, the content of the measure needs to clearly and adequately assess how you define job satisfaction. She doesn't want it to be deficient. Tell her how you came up with this measure. Part 3: Evaluation Finally, she is going to make changes to the company based on the project findings, and she wants to know exactly how you will evaluate the effectiveness of this project. She talked a little about how you might think of this, and she said that you could think of evaluating whether this works or not in the same way you evaluate the success of any other training program. She wants to know three things: 1) how will you design the assessment and why will you do it that way, 2) what are the most important indicators of whether this is a success or not, and 3) What statistic(s) will you look at to evaluate success?
