PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS:
In order to use these selection tools to improve performance, it helps to understand what
factors contribute to it. Organizations may use predictive analytics to find the answers to this
question. For example, let us assume that managers just completed measurement of
performance using the companys performance appraisal form. We also have the following
metrics on each employee. Let us assume that you have information on five criteria that could
affect performance:
- Product knowledge (results of a test the employees took part in)
- Achievement Striving (personality trait that explains self-resilience skills, determination,
and goal-oriented mindset. Employees with 'Achievement Striving' trait have innate
ability to sail through tough times and have higher levels of perseverance to achieve
goals)
- Verbal skills (the use of words to share information with other people. Includes both
spoken and written communication)
- Cooperativeness (evaluated by team members)
- Conscientiousness (personality trait of being careful, diligent, efficient, and organized.
Implies a desire to do a task well, and to take obligations to others seriously)
- Dependent variable: Performance rating (supervisor)
Task 4
: Use the excel worksheet for task 4 to determine which of these metrics is a good
predictor of performance (based on the supervisor rating). This is important information for the
organization. For example, if we find that product knowledge is an important predictor, we can
increase investment in training. If verbal skills are an important predictor, then we could select
employees based on verbal skills.
Analyze the data and then report the results. You will need to report the following information
as part of the report so please explain using full sentences as part of a paragraph (not bullet
points).
