FACTS OF REAGAN v. JACOBSON: Date of Accident: May 9, 2023 Time of Accident: Approximately 8:50 p.m. Conditions Prior to Accident: Dark, cloudy and wet. It appeared to have rained earlier, but was not raining at 8:50 p.m.

Ajax College of Business is a business school located in Phoenix, Arizona. The campus covers one block and is bordered by First Street to the East, Second to the West, Oak to the north and Walnut to the south. There are several exits, including the one onto First Street.

The accident occurred on First Street. The case involves a collision between two cars. The two- way street upon which the accident occurred is narrow and not well lit, causing limited visibility. Cars were parked intermittently on both sides of the street which permitted only one lane of traffic. The police arrived and wrote a police report.

Chris Reagan, is an assistant to the Dean of Ajax College. She is not married and she lives at 4848 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Chris had just finished some paperwork the evening of May 9, 2023, about the same time classes ended, walked to her car which was parked on the east side of the street facing north on First Street. When Chris opened the driver's side door, the dome light in her car did not go on, so she left the car door open to help see the ignition switch and where to buckle the seatbelt just when the collision occurred. She suffered an injured left wrist and arm while attempting to close the car door just as the northbound car struck it. She went to the emergency room after the accident.

Jody Jacobson is a full time student at Ajax College. Jody is not married either, and she lives at 534 West Thunderbird Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Jody had just come out of her class the evening of May 9, 2023, got into her car, which was also parked on the east side of First Street and proceeded to drive north on First Street. While going around a large truck also parked on the east side of First Street, Jody suddenly saw a car parked right in front of the large truck with the driver's door open, tried to avoid the open door as well as the minivan which was parked to the west. She avoided the van, struck the car door and swerved to the east curb and came to an abrupt stop in front of a utility pole. She was not injured nor did she hit the pole.

Chris Reagan's damages so far total $50,000, which includes her medical damages as well as damage to her vehicle, loss of use of her vehicle and the need to obtain a rental car for a week. She also lost time from work due to her injuries and attending doctors' appointments and treatment. She continues to treat for her injuries. In addition, she missed out on a promotion that would have earned her an additional $3.00 an hour. She currently earns $20/hour.
