3. An audience profile, which identifies all the factors about your audience and what you know or can assume/surmise about them. Who is your overall target audience for your research topic and the writing of the essay, ultimately? What does this audience care about - what are their values, beliefs, and ideas? What will appeal to them or matter most? What will be challenging to accept, or easy to accept? research project? The audience you identify in this section could also be described as your potential readers -- they may be different than who you identify in your statement of need, which might be a broader audience for the information overall.
4. A project plan, which discusses: your topic and the research question that guides your exploration (at least for now); the types of sources you will look for/expect to find; your plan for finding those sources and your expectations for possibly getting help with the research if you are not finding what you need; anything you have found in initial research so far, and what you think is likely to be most important for source gathering (which could be your approach, or it could be maintaining objectivity, or have enough to write about by the time you start the essay -- whatever you think).
5. Your projection of what you think you'll contribute to "the conversation" about your topic, or to the knowledge of your topic generally? (You won't know this until the literature review is done, but what do you think right now, so you can compare this expectation later to what you know once the research is done).
6. A works consulted list, which cites at least two sources that you have found so far.
