Fig. P1(a) shows the schematic diagram of a truck as per AASHTO design code. Take the distance
marked Varies as 30 feet.
Now consider that the truck is moving (forward as shown in Fig. P1(a)) from D to A on a bridge that
is modeled as a beam shown in Fig. P1(b) with a skew support at D, a pin support at A, an internal
hinge at B, and a roller at C. Assume that the axle loads are applied as static loading on the beam (no
dynamic effects). Take =10.
Solve this problem using SI units. Compute and plot the magnitude of the reaction at D , reactions at
A, and the vertical reaction at C as a function of the distance of the front axle of the truck with respect
to D. Use the Load Cases feature in the GS-USA Program to solve this problem using a single model.
