Problem 1: You are conducting seismic cone penetration testing (SCPTu) to determine soil shear wave velocities with depth. The test consists of generating seismic waves from a wave source on the existing ground surface. These waves are measured via an accelerometer within the SCPTu. See Figure A for a typical SCPTu setup. Determine the distance from the seismic wave source to the accelerometer for accelerometer depths of 2 m to 20m@2m intervals. The seismic source is 1.5 m distance from the SCPTu on the existing ground surface.
