Design two chord members of an intermediate truss system $($one member is exposed to the

maximum tensile force and the other is exposed to the maximum compressive force$).$ Both

design forces shall be obtained from the structural analysis performed in Part I using the

most critical design load combination. Use No$\mathrm{.}1/$No$.2$ grade S$-$P$-$F sawn lumber.

Note: Each truss member is connected with a single row of $2-5/8"-$diameter shear plates

$($SH PL$)$ with $\frac{3}{4}"-$ diameter bolts.
