A bridge is composed of two trusses whose configuration is shown below. The trusses are loaded at their top chord panel points by the reactions from a stringer and floor-beam system that supports the roadway. Draw the influence line for force in bars FE and CF.
Assume the truck moves along the center of the roadway so that one-half of the truck load is carried by each truss. Using your influence line, determine and report the maximum live load force in member CF, both positive (T) and negative (C), that can be produced by the truck as it traverses the bridge, taking into consideration that trucks can travel in either direction.
