Problem 7
A combustor, chiller, syngas cleanup, and gasifier work in series. Coal, oxygen (O2) and steam are fed into the gasifier,
which produces synthesis gas with the following molar analysis: CH4=0.1%,H2=29.5%,CO2=9.1%,CO=46.35%,N2=
0.6%,H2O=13.6%,H2S=0.7%,NH3=0.05%. The H2S and NH3 are removed and the mixture then passes through a chiller
that condenses 92% of the water present in the syngas stream. The condensate is removed and the resulting gas stream is
fed to the combustor, where it burns completely with 400% of theoretical air. For the combustor, determine the amount of
air required, in kmol per kmol of syngas.
