Problem solving skill is needed in all businesses, whether it be deciding what should be done with employee issues or expanding a business. You need to think beyond that and help Mike decide what his next step may be after fixing the issues in each area.

• Should he consider expanding the business? If he were to expand, what should his new location be relative to the competitionand what costs would be involved? How might the expansion help his business in terms of access to customers?
• What should Mike do about the ongoing employee issues after his initial cleanup of the business? Be specific, for example should he have an employee handbook, should he have required employee training? What would be needed to undertake these changes?
