Problem Statement: Simulate a simplified factory floor. Orders (parts or gadgets) arrive to the floor with
an average interarrival time about 4.5 minutes. There are two workers on the floor. One (Amy) is responsible for
preprocessing the order. This step takes about 2 to 5 minutes. Historical data shows that the average time is about
3 minutes. Then, the part moves to the next station where Bob further processes the order. This usually takes
about 1.5 to 4 minutes.
Requirements:
1: Build a simulation model to simulate the operation of AB Factory for 720 hours (assuming it operates
7/24/365 and Amy/Bob work all the time). Collect statistics (i.e., display using textboxes) on the current WIP over
time; the time average number of orders in the system; average waiting time in the queue with Amy and with Bob,
respectively; the utilization of the two staff workers, respectively; and display them in a textbox. Make a histogram
of Time in System (TIS) for all the orders and make a time plot displaying the TIS for each order .
2: Add basic animation (e.g., use a box for a gadget) to show 1) gadgets waiting in the queues; 2) busy/idle of
the workers.
