Note: One employee, Gary Garuda, has left the organisation this month 30th June, with due notice. He did supply a reason for this termination and his termination payment needs to be paid along with this month pay. He has contacted the payroll officer on two separate occasions seeking advice regarding his payment entitlements as per the legislation and the expected process date
As this is an enquiry outside your area of expertise, you are required to review legislative and organisational requirements relevant to employment termination processes and payment and based on the review, advise what Gary would receive under termination pay.
After seeking advice verbally, you are to calculate his normal monthly pay and termination payment. Communicate the enquiry clearly to your manager (assessor) and after confirming the requirements and obtaining authorisation, articulate the response as you would to the employee directly. (HINT: Draft your email to Gary with responses regarding Termination Payments, as required in next paragraph).
You should also ensure they update the records and systems in line with this change to employment status.
Students are required to review their calculations and once confirmed, respond to both of Garys enquiries by drafting an email and advising him of his payment entitlements and approximate due date.
