Professional Ethics
exercise number (3)
While working for the company you work for, you were assigned to a neighboring country to complete the process of opening a branch of the company there.
After you arrived in that country, you were surprised that every administration you review, its employees are trying to complicate your task, in order to force you to pay them to facilitate your task.
You consulted the managers in those departments to complain, but you did not find someone to do you justice and deter these employees, so you called your direct manager at the companys head office and told him about the matter. He told you, make your affairs easy. Corruption is widespread in this country, and you will not be able to finish your mission without paying that money. For information, they do not call it a bribe, but rather a tip, so do not complicate matters and try to facilitate them as much as you can.
With your groupmates, read the exercise, and then answer the following questions:
1- Is a tip considered a bribe?
2- Does legalizing bribery in a country make it permissible?
3- Is paying a bribe in this case justified as a result of necessity?

The relationship and influence between individual values and organizations in building professional ethics
exercise number (4)
In the first week of your work in the organization in which you currently work, and in which you joined as a result of a request from the new Director General, who chose you because of his integrity and grandfatherness at work. Three colleagues at work visited you and asked you to sign in front of your name on a paper that includes all the names of the organizations employees, who demand the abolition of the timing device that the new manager applied to organize the official working time of the organization, on the pretext that they are not accustomed to it and it has never been applied in the organization.
I hesitated a little, and resentment began to appear on the faces of your colleagues. I was confused between signing or refusing, knowing that the Director-General is proceeding with his decision and will not retract from it, and therefore your signature will not be submitted or delayed.
With your groupmates, read the exercise, and then answer the following questions:
1- Is what the employees demanded an ethical issue?
2- Does consensus on an error make it justified?
3- Will you sign the request, or will you refuse? Knowing that your signature will not help.
4- Will you sign when you know that the application of this system violates the culture of the organization?
5- Will you sign when you know that your refusal will make you go against the flow, and thus affect your relationship with your co-workers?
