Program Background
Some plastic coolers have their walls filled with foam to aid in insulating
the contents of the cooler. To aid the design engineer, this program is
going to estimate how much foam is needed and how much the foam
will weigh for different insulations. The program will need the desired
outside height width depth d and the wall's thickness To
calculate the volume within the plastic shell, the total volume of the
closed outer box will be calculated and the volume that is filled with air
will be subtracted from it
The equations for the intermediate volumes are:
The foam's density in lbft and the volume to be filled will be used to find the weight of the foam.
weight
The three chemical options for foams are: Polyurethane Foam
Polystyrene Foam
Specialty Mixed Foam
Assignment Description
This program will be estimating the amount of foam needed to fill the cooler's plastic shell and the weight
of that foam for the different chemical foams. The input wall thickness will need to be converted to feet
before calculating the volume inside the plastic shell. The volume will be used to calculate the three
different weights one for each chemical This will require the different density constants to be declared
and assigned a value within the code. The program will neatly display the calculated volume and each
chemical's name with its corresponding weight estimation.
To reduce variables entered by the user, set your width variable to be ft and your height variable to be
ft
Inputs
Information to be input:
Outer depth of the cooler in feet
Wall thickness in inches
