To make a properly formatted md$5$sum checksum file for any number of files, type the following at the root terminal, substituting the files of your choice by creating dummy.txt files for FILE$1,$ FILE$2,$ and so on:

Md$5$sum FILE$1$ FILE$2$ FILE$3$ FILE$4>$ CHECKSUM.MD$5$

This will make a file called CHECKSUM. MD$5$ with properly formatted checksum lines for each file.
